Paws For This Week's Animal Facts: Rudolph The Red-Nosed Caribou

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and, of course, Rudolph. Do these names sound familiar? If they don't, you're probably Jewish or unfamiliar with Christmas carols. BUT, you have come to the perfect place to learn about Santa's preferred method of transportation: Reindeer!

Back to this week's edition of holiday animal facts, today we are focusing on Reindeer. Forget all of the mystical magical aspects of these snowy beasts you think you already know because today we are learning the cold. hard. facts. Reindeer, also known to many as Caribou, spend almost most of their lives in the snow. Their hallow fur protects them from freezing the temperatures of their environments. As the name suggests, reindeer are a species of deer but are worlds different from the ones we see in our backyards. Keep reading to find out!

    So this is where Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer comes from. His rose is red because it's trying to keep his body warm!! Now I feel bad for the other reindeer. Why weren't their noses red? Were they freezing? Do they need to go to the vet?
